Hong Kong Taxation

Territorial Concept

Only Hong Kong sourced-profits are taxable, the residence of a taxpayer is not relevant. Possibility of ZERO tax!

Low Tax Rate

Profits tax - 8.25% on the first HK$2M assessable profits, and 16.5% on the remainder. Salaries tax is charged on progress rates from 2% to 17% on net income after deduction of allowances.

No Dividend Tax

Dividend income, whether from Hong Kong or overseas, is not taxable. Also dividends paid to either a resident or non-resident of Hong Kong are not subject to any withholding tax.

No Capital Gains Tax

Hong Kong does not tax capital gains if the disposal of assets is not a trading transaction.



No Sales Tax & VAT

There is no sales tax and VAT in Hong Kong.

No PAYE

Hong Kong has no PAYE system. Individual income is reported to Inland Revenue once a year only.

DTA Relief

Hong Kong has entered into DTAs with a number of jurisdictions to reduce or eliminate double taxation.

Simple Administration
